TOPIC: Earplugs?

Earplugs? 2 Years, 2 Months ago
Hey, I'm 16 and I'm still just about a year into music. I haven't used earplugs yet, but I want to protect my ears while I can. What are a good pair of earplugs for playing on stage/practice?

I use Direct Sound Extreme Isolation Headphones and so does Paul Gilbert. It provides excellent protection for your ears and is even better than the expensive Bose headphones.

I've been drumming for a living for 20 years now and I've had earplugs made for me. They're not expensive, a lot better than foam earplugs and you won't lose hearing.

Good Luck.

You can try some Hearos -- pick them up at Guitar Center or a similar place. They're probably not as high-quality as something that's made for you, but a whole lot better than foam - and you don't have to visit a doctor to get them. About $20 or so.

Those Hearos seem very interesting, one of my classmates shared with us this article about those ear plugs, take a look at it.

I was using Vic Firth headphones, but switched to molded ear plugs. The headphones were uncomfortable after practicing for an extended period. I also use Shure in ear monitors, also with molded ear buds. Great to play along with tunes, and just listening to ipod
