Contracts 3 Years, 7 Months ago
Has anyone purchased contracts from the online vendors for musicians, producers, etc? If so were you satisfied or would you give some input about the product.
Thanks,
Pamela

i had. i will tell you though, some were a WASTE OF MONEY. some weren't. i suggest musiccontracts.com. that's the only site that actually had something worth paying for. of course, you have to remember that you can't just print out the contract as is. you have to read it and make modifications specific to your needs. but it's pretty handy i will say, especially when you can't afford lawyer fees yet.

I have used templates periodically, however be careful and critical about each section, you may have to mod/remove/add different sections or clauses that pertain to you and your position individually. Often templates can be brick walls, covering every little aspect and detail, or spider webs, holes alllll over the place that could get you into trouble. So seek guidance if you need too and mod the script so i appeals to your paticular situation.

Hint: Most banks have in-house-attorneys. although they are not specialists in the entertainment business, all contracts follow the same formula, so they can tell you if there are holes or if a clause is repeated unnecessarily. And they can be very in-expensive to seek. call your bank and ask.

Hope this helps.

Andre
