Online success in the music industry from Berklee 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I have a concern/Question can anyone tell me what the success rate is from taking online classes from Berklee in the Music business are? any aspect of the music business, I am an online Student and I am working towards my Masters in Music Business and Song writing, I know there was a couple of online Students got picked up by Sugarland but that's all I know of thus far. I am also in a Country band and I'm trying to apply what I am learning and nothing is working out for me or the band, check out the bands web page at www.georgecountry.com, I just hope I'm not wasting my money and time, I spoke to a counselor at Berklee and was asking questions and I asked about becoming an Alumni and I was told "well you won't be an alumni of the college, you'll be an alumni of the online part, and I was like that doesn't sound good I felt like well Thank you for your money and time, and hope things work out for you, I don't need a masters to hang on my wall and go to a day job everyday, I am a very driven determined person to make it in the music Business.

Sorry, can't help you with any data regarding who has landed great positions from the online course. My thinking is, if the online course is actually supplying you with needed knowledge to be successful in your craft, then you are on the right path. Attending College, online, whatever. Gain knowledge, apply it and be the best at what you do.
I would think, anytime you reference your education to an online course it would not ever be considered as good as attending a college.

Why wouldn't it be as good as attending the college?

Personally I dont have the information you seek, sorry. However, what I do know is that I am taking the Master course in Music Business and Songwriting as well and Im learning alot. It is helping me as a musician considerably. I think it's worth the money because of the access to the inside secrets you get and the networking with other musicians you can do.

You have to remember though, what you get from the online school is not a degree, its a certificate. If you want an actual degree, you should apply to the physical college.

P.S.
For what it's worth, to get into physical Berklee, you have to audition: for the online school you dont. Interpret that as you will.

I had some of the same questions at first... Then it sank into me that this is it own entity with an endorsement from Berklee. As time goes on it strike me that we will see more people like you and me... Determined to make it in the music business. A Brand of it's own
