Hi Elsa,

This is Lex from Berkleemusic; I'm a student advisor here. When new students come to Berklee, they are given a diagnostic exam that tests them in the areas of Theory, Harmony, Ear Training, and Arranging, and optionally, basic Music Technology. New students can test out of courses in these areas depending on how they do on this exam, thus earning credits for prior knowledge. While the online courses do not directly transfer to the main school, you can prepare yourself for this exam by taking the relevant courses. Any online courses in Theory, Harmony, Ear Training, and Arranging will give you a significant head start on your program. Take a look at the online courses here.

If you have any questions, please feel free to call our office at 617-747-2146, or send us an e-mail at advisors@berkleemusic.com .
