Hi Steven,
I'm Julia, advisor at Berkleemusic.
For our Hip Hop Writing and Production course you should have a good grasp of Reason as well as Music Theory. Your Desktop Music Production class is a great preparation course, if it was a little bit basic for you I'm sure you will really enjoy this course since writing, critical listening and production are also involved.
Throughout the course, you will learn the different Hip Hop eras and analyze which production techniques Hip Hop producers use to define their style. You will be able to use and apply these techniques to your own music as well as create original tracks. This course will also teach you how to mix and master your tracks as well program your own drum beats and loops using Reason 4 and create bass, guitar, keyboard, and horn parts for hip-hop arrangements.
You should look at the lesson plan to see what you will be learning on a weekly basis:

Let us know if you have any questions!
I don't know if you want to start this summer but we still have a few seats available in this course. Give us a call if you want to enroll, our summer term begins today, Monday June 29th!
Best,
Julia Polanco
