TOPIC: Audacity and RNDigital Inspector

Audacity and RNDigital Inspector 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago
I need a little push over the top on how to run RNdigital inspector in Audacity. I am running 1.3 beta audacity and the free inspector analyzer. I load a CD track into Audacity, then go to effect->RNDigital:Inspector and the plugin jumps up and is responsive. I highlight about 25 seconds of the song and press ok in the inspector widget. Processing progress bar comes up and then Inspector goes away. My question is what do I do next to get the results of the analysis? Is the analysis located somewhere on my system? is it an .xml file?

TIA

Hi Timothy,

From what I can tell, you will need a program with real time plug-in support in order to see the graphic analysis such as Garageband, Cubase, Pro Tools, etc. Audacity is able to "fake" plug-in support by adding any effects in post production. However due to the nature of the spectrum analyzer, this does not work because it needs to happen as the track plays along. Because the Inspector is coded as a normal plug-in, it will show up in Audacity's effects list and even allow you to make settings. But as you have seen, once you try to apply it, the window just goes away. According to Audacity, it added your effect to your track when in fact it was supposed to be analyzing it. It's a bit confusing but I hope that made some amount of sense.

Sincerely,
