CSU Pomona music business degree?? 4 Years, 2 Months ago
I am considering attending CSU Pomona for their music business degree, since I already live in California and I am unaware of any other school that offers a music business degree that is affordable.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience or knowledge of this school's program. It sounds good on their website-offering internships at Warner Bros. and Interscope etc...but actual insider information can be quite different. Any input on this particular degree's reputation or sucess from CSU Pomona would be appreciated!

I am also contemplating whether a strong B.S in business would be a more credible and secure approach into the music business as well.....

any advice?

here's some advice for you. I work in teaching music business so maybe I can be of some help. You want to check out CSU's music curriculum and music business courses in specific. (not just look at the internship placement, since this depends on a person by person perspective). basically what I could recommend to you is perhaps a music foundation, and then sure it may be good to take some business related courses. And some specific music business courses such as legal aspects of music business or music business 101 from actually berklee. As for me I have a BA in Music and a MA in ethnomusicology, but as I said I teach music business--where as I learned the business through network, and by taking a few course wise refresher (or stregnthener classes online) and have learned international business with a focus in music business in the doctorate level. The best bet for you is to study the music business courses there, since if they are specific they sould cover the bases of business anyway. let me know if I can be of some help.
