LINK I am a full time musician. My activities include live performance, teaching, arranging and studio recording sessions. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Berklee College Of Music in May of 2000. I currently live in Guadalajara, MEXICO, where I perform regularly with projects "Steady Jobbers", "Guanatos Brass Band" and solo in AMERICANA. I teach at my home studio, and at the TEC DE MONTERREY -Campus Guadalajara-, on their Cultural Department. I love all music, but I particularly enjoy listening and playing american popular music such as folk, country and blues. Please visit LINK if you would like to see some of my videos. LINK

Q:Werther Ellerbrock; what subjects do you teach? A: I teach all levels of guitar, in the Jazz, Blues, Funk, Pop/Rock, Folk, Country and Heavy Metal idioms. I also teach harmony (Contemporary and Traditional) and ear training.
Q:How long have you been teaching? What is your past experience with your subject or instrument? A: I have been teaching for nearly 14 years, with experience teaching children, as well as group lessons. I am fluent in several areas such as ear training, arranging, composition and especially harmony... and I've been playing guitar for 20 years.
Q:What music affiliations are you a member of? A: Berklee Alumni, and the Berklee International Network.
Q:About your music education / performing experience? A: I graduated magna cum laude from Berklee College of Music in May of 2000, with a bachelor of music degree in Professional Music. Before that, I attended the 1996 Berklee Summer Guitar Sessions, earning a cerificate of completion. About performance, well... I have traveled to many places in Mexico, the United Ststes and Europe, with different projects. I have also either co-billed/opened for several known artists such as Popa Chubby, Johnny Winter, Neal Black and the Healers, Luther Guitar Jr. Johnson, The Boston Horns, The Lydia Warren Band, Groove Collective, Liquid Soul, Steve Tallis, Lil' Dave Thompson; among others.
Q:Tell us about AMERICANA. A: I call it that because the project is based on american music, namely, american fingerstyle guitar. I play folk, country, blues and ragtime, but also blend these styles with modal, classical and ethnic music. See, the way I play the guitar remains essentially the same, but what I do is try to imitate music from all over the world. Sometimes you´ll hear something that sounds middle eastern, sometimes western, sometimes very happy and some other times very obscure. It´s a very interesting approach, plus I use many different tunings, which only enhance this guitar experience!
Q:Werther, on behalf of Berkleemusic, I want to thank you for this interview. Sounds like good things will be coming your way. A: Yeah, I hope so. And thank you for the opportunity to share some what of I do with you. Hope we can meet again un the future.
