![]() Although there are a number of foundational changes occurring within the music industry, live events continue to be a growing revenue stream for musicians and sound engineers. In the Specialist Certificate in Live Sound Production, you値l learn to identify all the elements of an effective mix for live sound庸rom the proper width and depth, frequency range, dynamics, and different mix approaches used in various musical genres, to the impact that microphone and even mic-preamp choices have on the mix預nd gain all the tools, techniques, and insights needed to become a well-versed live sound producer. You値l begin the program with Critical Listening 1. Through weekly training drills, analysis of classic recordings, and comparative studies of different mixing styles, you値l identify what mix approaches work for what genre, when to break these rules, and how different instruments and microphone techniques effect your mix. You値l also learn the trademark tricks and sounds of famous producers, and learn to do what they do葉aking ideas from existing recordings and using them as a reference point as you zero in on your own perfect sound. You値l continue opening your ears in Critical Listening 2, gaining a heightened level of music listening and awareness while expanding your production palette and vocabulary. You値l expand your production skills and take your critical listening to the next level by learning to identify and implement compression and panning techniques and a wide array of professional mix approaches across multiple genres of music. You値l conclude your studies with Live Sound: Mixing and Recording, where you値l learn to construct a dynamic, high-quality mix specific to live sound. You値l explore the acoustical, musical, and technical aspects of the live performance, in order to learn how to present the best possible sound to the audience. You値l identify proper microphone technique, equalization, effects, and dynamics processing to build professional sounding instrument sounds and vocals. By the end of this certificate program, you値l have an intensive background in mixing techniques based on the work of world-famous producers and engineers, an in-depth understanding of natural and artificial reverb, delay, and compression settings, and their effect on mixes, and a thorough knowledge of the special considerations necessary for recording and mixing a live show.
