Educator, composer, arranger, and bassist Jerry Gates has been a music industry professional for over twenty-eight years. His television and radio credits include Bank of America, Log Cabin maple syrup, Scope mouthwash, Marlboro cigarettes, and music preparation for "The Dennis Miller Show," jazz great Bill Holman, and film composers Jack Smalley and Richard Band. As a professor at Berklee College of Music, he teaches Contemporary Arranging Techniques, Directed Studies in Arranging, Contemporary Twelve-Tone Composition, Orchestration, Writing and Production in the Studio, and Music Preparation courses. He also teaches writing and orchestration techniques privately through his Web site, www.jerrygatesmusic.com.
Jerry's most recently completed projects include composing and producing music for Nestle's "Wonk Your Room" online promotion and authoring a composition book entitled All TwelveDodecaphonic Sources For Contemporary Composition. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Berklee College of Music, a Master of Music/Composition degree from the Hartt School, and graduated from both the Television/Film Scoring and Composing/Arranging certificate programs at the former Grove School of Music in Los Angeles, CA.
About Jeff Perry
Jeff Perry is a professional educator, arranger, performer, and composer. He has arranged commercial jingles, as well as concert music for jazz ensembles and pop/rock groups. The Jeff Perry Quintet, an acoustic jazz group, features several of his arrangements on their recording Andersonville (1998). His rhythm section and horn arrangements also appear on Jes Perry's recording Clearing My Head (2002) and the Jeff Perry Quartet: Foundation (2003).
Jeff holds a bachelor's in arranging (with honors) from Berklee and a master's in jazz composition (with honors) from DePaul University. He has been on the Berklee faculty since 1997, and currently teaching arranging in the Contemporary Writing and Production department.
