Learn to create musical-sounding MIDI arrangements with assignments that challenge your creativity while you produce music in three divergent styles: electronic dance music, blues, and advertising scoring. Concise music theory features in each lesson expand your understanding of key musical concepts while listening examples and music history explorations lead you through major styles as you become a more complete MIDI musician. This course will provide you with a firm understanding of the roles of the various instruments and arrangements used in the creation of dance and blues music, and will explore the whole creative process of writing these styles of music using MIDI. You will gain an analytical ear by analyzing recordings to find what makes these styles unique, and will become adept at producing both electronic-sounding arrangements as well as arrangements that have a more natural, organic feel. You'll thoroughly explore the capabilities of MIDI sequencing technology and learn effective processes and approaches to production. By the end of this course you will have gained the ability to compose music and arrange instruments in a variety of different musical styles using MIDI sequencing.
