Mike King is a course author, instructor, and the Chief Marketing Officer at Berkleemusic, the online continuing education division of Berklee College of Music. Prior to working at Berklee, he was the Marketing/Product Manager at Rykodisc, where he oversaw marketing efforts for label artists including Mickey Hart, Jeb Loy Nichols, Morphine, Jess Klein, Voices On The Verge, Bill Hicks, The Slip, Pork Tornado (Phish), Kelly Joe Phelps, and Frank Zappa's estate. Mike was also the Director of Marketing and Managing Editor of Herb Alpert's online musician's resource, www.artistshousemusic.org.
Mike has written three courses for Berkleemusic: Online Music Marketing with Topspin; Music Marketing 101; and Online Music Marketing: Campaign Strategies, Social Media, and Digital Distribution. He also teaches The Future of Music and the Music Business for Berkleemusic. His book, Music Marketing: Press, Promotion, Distribution, and Retail was published by Berklee Press in 2009. Mike was recognized as the Best Music Business Teacher by the National Association of Record Industry Professionals (NARIP) in 2011.
Mike has written for Making Music magazine, International Musician, Hypebot, and American Songwriter, and has been quoted in The Huffington Post, The Boston Globe, Wired, CNN, The Boston Phoenix, The Chicago Tribune, Music Connection, and Muso. Shamal Ranasinghe, Co-founder of Topspin, has been at the forefront of digital music product strategy and development for the past decade, and he has been responsible for defining software and service best practices for leading companies in the digital music space.
Ranasinghe embarked on his career in music application product management with RealNetworks in 1999, working with the product team that introduced one of the first digital jukebox software applications, RealJukebox. In 2002, he connected with mentor and future partner Peter Gotcher and started incubating the Topspin concept. Ranasinghe later joined Musicmatch where he headed up the product team and was in charge of their web-services product development, which included the On Demand, Radio, and Music Store web-services.
Following the acquisition of Musicmatch by Yahoo! in 2004, Ranasinghe created and led a product team focused on building data mining applications for the Media division of Yahoo!, and in 2007 he reunited with Gotcher to start Topspin.
Ranasinghe also co-founded Sol System and Giveback, both music projects with a purpose, and in his spare time he enjoys traveling, creating sound art installations, playing the guitar, and participating in meaningful social projects.
Ranasinghe received a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics and political science from Northwestern University and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Stanford University, where he also hosted a weekly radio show called "Below the Bassline".
Chandler Coyle is a partner and "digital geek" at the Topspin-certified digital marketing firm Music Geek Services based out of Chicago. Music Geek Services provides artist services for the music industry and been Topspin-certified since 2009. Music Geek has worked with, or is currently working with, acts such as Barenaked Ladies, Sloan, Said The Whale, Josh Rouse, The Odds, and Rhett Miller. From 2000-2010, Chandler managed a 10-person web development firm and has done everything from setting up networks to programming content management systems to create graphic designs for clients. Then, in 2010, Coyle brought his web skills to Music Geek Services where his passion is to help bands establish or enhance their online presence to increase their fan base and sell more music.

Jason Kadlec began his professional music career in 2000 as the percussionist for aFRO-MySTiK, a live dance music ensemble signed to San Francisco's Om Records. After a brief period of managing street team promotions for Om Records, he was hired as the first employee at the online distribution company, INgrooves. For over five years, he served as its Director of A&R, Label Relations, and Business Development, participating in the company's growth from a startup in a living room to a provider of online distribution services to Universal North America, Fontana, and hundreds of leading independent record labels worldwide.
Kadlec joined Topspin in 2007 as their first artist facing staff member, following a passion for working with technology that empowers artists and content creators. Responsibilities included creating and executing the strategy to recruit and support beta testers, contributing to product development and testing, and management of all client relations. He also worked directly with artists and their business teams to successfully use Topspin to acquire fans, create demand, and generate revenue. In 2009, as Topspin's first Certified Consultant, he established Kadlec Consulting to offer a complete set of business, marketing, and web design services to enable his clients to fully leverage the power of Topspin's online marketing and e-commerce tools.

Jeff Straw has worked as a DJ, saxophonist, retail music buyer, producer, remixer, and marketing director. He is currently the Director of Music Licensing and Marketing at the digital powerhouse INgrooves. He acts as music supervisor for interactive games and pitches music for film and TV placements, ad campaigns, and Internet projects. Straw handles the creative side of the business as well as the negotiating and contractual sides. He is INgrooves' certified Topspin expert and pilots all the campaigns run through INgrooves.
Straw is one of the founding members of Test Press San Francisco, the grass roots organization dedicated to culminating local SF talent and giving new electronic producers a chance to have their music heard and critiqued by a panel of industry experts. He is a voting member of NARAS and has been a chairman on committees for the San Francisco chapter for the last four years. He is also an ASCAP writer and a music producer under the name DJ F. Straw holds a Bachelor of Music degree from University of Miami's Music Engineering program.
