Pro Tools 101 Official Courseware Training Manual is an excellent learning companion designed to provide reference information to all students learning Pro Tools. Written by Avid, this training manual walks you through all of the topics covered in the course, from navigation and displays, to mixing concepts and using MIDI in Pro Tools. Pro Tools 101 Official Courseware Training Manual will be provided to those enrolled in the course. Please note items shipped to non-US territories may incur additional duties and import fees that vary depending on the country.  The student is responsible for paying any of these additional fees upon delivery.

Software Requirements

• Pro Tools 10 (not included with course purchase). Earlier versions of Pro Tools are not supported in this course.
• Windows 7 or Snow Leopard 10.6
• PC Web browser: Firefox 3.0 or higher, Internet Explorer 7 or higher
• Macintosh Web browser: Firefox 3.0 or higher, Safari 3.0 or higher
• Flash Player: current version
• QuickTime Player: current version
• Acrobat Reader: current version

Hardware Requirements

All students must have an audio interface compatible with Pro Tools 10. These include:

• any current Avid interface (Mbox family, 003, HD, etc.)
• any current M-Audio interface (Delta product line only compatible with Window-based systems)
• any former Avid or Digidesign interface (except the original first generation Mbox or Digi 001)
• any third-party interface that supports Core Audio (Mac OS) or ASIO (Windows)

An iLok Smart Key is required for authorization of all Pro Tools systems.

Each of the above products requires at minimum an approved Macintosh or Windows PC, but specific hardware and operating system requirements vary. For detailed system requirements involving Avid, Digidesign and M-Audio systems, check the Avid listings of approved interfaces:

A dedicated internal or external hard drive for audio is highly recommended.

For information about third-party interfaces, contact the product manufacturer directly.

(Please note that some interfaces do not provide microphone inputs, so students who utilize these products will not be able to complete recording assignments. Also note that some interfaces require external preamplifiers in order to record microphone inputs.)

Additional Hardware Requirements

• Minimum of one microphone or electric musical instrument (guitar, keyboard, etc.); direct box may also be required (check audio interface specifications)
• MIDI keyboard, controller, or any instrument with a MIDI output, in addition to a MIDI interface if not integrated with your audio interface
• Monitoring via loudspeakers and/or headphones
