Jeri Sykes is a composer, arranger, performer, and music educator. She has composed music and designed sound for theatre and film, and has written several works for performing ensembles at Berklee College of Music. Jeri is a founding member of Preoccupied Pipers, an avant-pop recording cooperative founded in 1992 at Timber Trout Studios, Oakland, California. Recordings include Emergency Third Rail Power Trip (1995), Jokes About the Medical Profession (2003), and The Trout Supershow (2005).
Jeri performs regularly in musical theatre, jazz groups, and classical ensembles, playing saxophone, clarinet, flute, and oboe. She arranged horns and played reeds for the 12-piece San Francisco Bay-area band Lawsuit from 1989-1996.
Jeri holds a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Writing and Production from Berklee, and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of California, Davis. She is currently on the faculty of Berklee's Contemporary Writing and Production department.
