Berkleemusic Military Tuition Discount
Berkleemusic.com offers a 20% tuition discount to all military students. This includes active duty military students who use Tuition Assistance to pay for a portion of their tuition as well veterans who use the Montgomery GI Bill.
For VA students who are using a GI Bill program other than Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 Bill) you will be required to contact us each term prior to making a payment for tuition to request the discount.
For VA students using Chapter 33 (Post 9/11 Bill) you will be required to contact us each term to request the discount. The discount amount will be the difference between what the VA covers for tuition and the total amount due up to $239 per course.
For veterans using the Montgomery GI Bill, the discount will be not be applied until a certificate of eligibility is received. The tuition discount is not retroactive. To request to have the discount applied or for more information please send an email to registrar@berkleemusic.com or call 1-866-BERKLEE.
Montgomery GI Bill
Most Berkleemusic programs are approved for Montgomery GI Bill benefits. Please contact us at 1-866-BERKLEE or email us at registrar@berkleemusic.com to determine if the program you are planning on pursuing is approved. You may also check the VA Website to determine if the program you plan to pursue is approved. The Montgomery GI Bill cannot be used for individual courses or courses taken outside of an approved program.
Chapter 30
For students who wish to use their Montgomery GI Benefits for Berkleemusic programs, follow these simple steps:
1. Complete form 22-1990 Application for VA Education Benefits if you have not already done so. You can now apply online at VONAPP.
2. If approved, you will receive a certificate of eligibility, which should be faxed to the Continuing Education Registrar at 617-747-2149 or emailed to registrar@berkleemusic.com. Please ensure that your full social security number is written on the certificate of eligibility.
3. Register for the program you are interested in pursuing and pay any tuition and fees due.
4. Notify the Continuing Education Registrar that you have enrolled and wish to use the GI Bill. This can be done by sending an email to registrar@berkleemusic.com.
5. The Continuing Education Registrar will complete form 22-1999 Enrollment Certification.Important Note: You will need to request certification of enrollment every term you take a course with Berkleemusic. This can be done once tuition for the upcoming term is paid by sending an email to registrar@berkleemusic.com.
At this time Berkleemusic is unable to accept advanced payments through the VA for all programs.
Post- 9/11 GI Bill (Chapter 33)
The Post 9/11 GI Bill provides financial support for education to individuals with at least 90 days of aggregate service on or after September 11, 2001, or individuals discharged with a service-connected disability after 30 days. You must have received an honorable discharge to be eligible for the Post-9/11 GI Bill.
Tuition support is based upon the highest in-state tuition charged by an educational institution in the state where the educational institution is located. For Massachusetts the maximum tuition benefit is $330 per credit. You can review the maximum tuition for other states here.
Choosing to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill is an irrevocable decision. Students should review all information carefully before applying for this benefit. For a comparison of the different options please visit the VA Website. Students attending courses entirely online are not eligible for the housing allowance.
Students wishing to use the Post 9/11 GI Bill should follow these steps:
1. Complete form 22-1990 Application for VA Education Benefits if you have not already done so. You can now apply online at VONAPP. Once approved you will receive a certificate of eligibility. This certificate will include the % of the benefit you are eligible to receive.
2. Submit the certificate of eligibility to the Continuing Education Registrar either via fax at 617-747-2149, via email at registrar@berkleemusic.com. Please ensure your full social security number is written on the certificate of eligibility. Along with the certificate of eligibility please include the program you wish to pursue as well as the course or courses you wish to take for the upcoming term.
3. The Continuing Education Registrar will set up your schedule and order for the first term applying the approved amount the VA will be paying. The balance due will need to be paid by the student prior to the term beginning.
Important Note: Students using Ch 33 benefits will need to notify the Continuing Education Registrar each term they wish to use these benefits. This needs to be done by sending an email to registrar@berkleemusic.com.
Yellow Ribbon Program
Berklee College of Music does participate in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The program is limited to 10 students per year identified on a first come, first serve basis. These 10 students can include both on-campus and online students. Students wishing to apply for the Yellow Ribbon Program will need to submit their certificate of eligibility that shows they are 100% eligible for the benefit. Because this program is limited to 10 students per year students are not guaranteed entrance into the program and will be notified once certificate of eligibility is received if they have been accepted.
