Music Scholarships and Other Financing Resources
Berkleemusic is committed to providing our student body with a variety of financing options including Non-Federal Education Loan Lenders, employer tuition assistance, military benefits, and our Flexible Payment Tuition Plans. In addition to these resources students can apply for Berkleemusic's Celebrity Online Scholarship Program. Below are some other resources and scholarships that may assist our student body with funding their education with us.

The Glenn Miller Birthplace Society
The Glenn Miller Birthplace Society is offering six scholarships, $4500, $2000 & $1000 to both instrumentalists and vocalists. These scholarships, which are awarded without regard to any other award, may be used for any education-related expense. Eligibility: Scholarships will be awarded to graduating high school seniors or first year college students who intend to make music a central part of their future life. Those who have entered as high school seniors are eligible to compete again as college freshmen, unless they have been previous first place winners.

SBO Magazine Essay Contest
Entry rules: 250 words or less. Ten $1,000 scholarships awarded in two categories; Five $1,000 scholarships in grades four to eight and five $1,000 scholarships in grades nine through twelve. Merchandising prizes contributed by Alfred Publishing and Yamaha Corporation of America.
How do I enter
Visit the sbomagazine.com web site or the supportmusic.com web site and click on essay contest 2010 or submit your entry to Student Scholarships, School Band and Orchestra, 21 Highland Circle, Suite 1, Needham, MA 02494. Along with the essay please furnish the following information: Name, Address, City, State, Zip, Telephone, Age,Grade, Instrument Played, Name of Music Teacher/Director, Name of School, Address, City, State, Zip and e-mail for music teacher/director if available. Name of music dealer(optional).

The ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Awards Program Administered by ASCAP's Concert Music Department
The ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer AwardsThe ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Awards are granted annually to encourage talented young jazz composers. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United States. Applicants must be under age 30 as of December 31, 2009. Applicants must submit a completed application form; an original score or chart of one composition accompanied by a CD indicating proper track (if applicable); biographical information listing prior music studies, background and experience. This program was initiated in 2002 with support from the Joseph and Rosalie Meyer Fund.

ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell Prize for The Best Original Score for Concert Band Program Administered by ASCAP's Concert Music Department
ASCAP and the College Band Directors National Association (CBDNA) seek to recognize talented young composers who write music for Concert Band. The prize is $5,000. The ASCAP/CBDNA Frederick Fennell prize is awarded bi-annually. The winning score will be performed at the ensuing CBDNA National Conference.
Guidelines
Open to citizens or permanent U.S. residents, or enrolled students with student visas, who are between the ages of 18 and 30 as of January 1, 2011. Only one entry per composer may be submitted.
Deadline
Applications for the next competition will be accepted beginning in 2010.
