Network
Click on "Network" in the top navigation menu on any page on Berkleemusic.com to access the Network Home page. Here you can see who is online, get up-to-date Network news, read the latest from the Berkleemusic Blogs, see the newest Status updates from Pro Members, and find out who is uploading music and other media to the Network. You can also search for other Network members and link to many different areas of Berkleemusic from here.
Network Activity Board (Pro Members Only)
The Network Activity Board is where the status updates, music, video, photo, and other file postings from Pro Members will display in chronological order. Pro Members also have the ability to comment on other members' Network Activity Board postings. Start conversations, upload media, and check out the work of other Pro Members here.
Members Page
From the Network Home page, click on the "Members" tab for more advanced search options and to read about spotlighted members. You can locate anyone in the Berklee Music Network from here and view their profile, send them a message, and add them as a contact. You can communicate easily with all of your Network Contacts, so add people to your Contact list to keep in touch with them.
Forums Page
From the Network Home page, click on the "Forums" tab. You can search all of the forum posts or set your forum views using the tools at the top of the page. Scroll down the page to explore all of the forum areas and topics. Click on any topic to read the posts and reply to threads. Click on a member's name to see their profile.
Create your own Topics using the "Tools" menu in the upper right of the page when viewing a thread. The Tools menu also lets you mark forums as read and view the latest posts in any thread.
You can subscribe or unsubscribe to receive emails for news posts in any thread at the bottom left of the page.
Inbox
From the top navigation menu on any page of the site, click on the words "INBOX" and you will be taken to your personal messaging center. Here you can read and manage your messages and reply to other members. You can also compose new messages and see what you have already sent to others.
Compose
Click on the "Compose a Message" link or the "Compose" button to create a new message. Begin typing the name of your recipient and the Network will show you members to choose from. You can send to many members at once by entering multiple recipients.
View Message
Click on the message subject or the "View Message" button to read a message. See the entire message thread and reply to the last post. Click on a Member's name or picture and go to their profile.
Profile
From the top navigation menu on any page of the site, click on your picture or the word "Profile" and you will be taken to your Profile Page. Clicking on any Member's picture or name will take you to that Member's Profile page.
When you are viewing your own Profile, you are in edit mode and can make changes on the page.
Contact Info
Immediately under your name at the top of the page is a link that will let you edit your contact info, including location, address, and phone number.
Your Picture
If you already had a picture on Berkleemusic, it will be showing on your Profile. If there is no picture of you showing, upload one by placing your mouse over the head image on your Profile, clicking Edit Picture and choosing a JPEG file to upload from your computer.
Status (Pro Members Only)
To the right of your picture is one of the places where you can update your Status to tell other Network members what you are up to, similar to Twitter posts. This Status will display to all of your Network Contacts automatically.
Interests
The links immediately to the right of your Status will show you how your "Public Profile" will look to other members and will also let you change your Privacy Preferences. Click on Privacy Preferences if you want to change who can view your Profile, or limit who can send you messages on the Network. The default setting is everyone for both.
Profile Network Activity Board (Pro Members Only)
The Network Activity Board is where the status updates, music, video, photo, and other file postings from Pro Members will display in chronological order. Pro Members also have the ability to comment on other members' Network Activity Board postings.
View Public Version and Privacy Preferences
Profile and Posting PrivacyYou can adjust your profile privacy settings and determine who can view your profile and who can message you by clicking on the "Edit Privacy Preferences" link on the top right of your profile page. By default, all members have the ability to view your profile and send you messages.
About Me (Pro Members Only)
The "About Me" area in your new Profile is where you can tell your story to other people in the Network. This could be your bio, resume, reviews, your band info, or anything else you want to express. Click the Add Bio Info button or Edit button to input and change this info. The About Me area can also contain links to other web pages, including your personal site, band site, blog, Twitter page, and Facebook page.
At the top of your Profile page, you will see a link to your old profile page on Berkleemusic. The Network has already copied over any "portrait" and "about" info you may have entered into your old profile. If you have any other images, news, links, or other information on your old profile that you want to continue to use, you will have to copy them over into your new Profile.
IM and Social Media Integration (Pro Members Only)
The Profile page includes an area where you can add up to 5 links to other social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, or MySpace. You can also use this area to add up to three of your instant message handles such as AIM, Gtalk, Yahoo, or Jabber.
Berkleemusic Classes (Pro Members Only)
Below your "About Me" area is the place where you can list the Berkleemusic online courses and programs you have taken. This is a good way to showcase your experience and help other people find you in the member directory. Click on Show Classes or Hide Classes as you wish.
Experience and Education (Pro Members Only)
Below that is an area where you can list your work or other experience and where you have studied and learned. This is your online résumé.
Member Contacts (Pro Members Only)
At the bottom of the Profile page you can Connect with Members of the Network by searching for them in the Member directory and adding them as a Contact from their Profile pages. This will make it easy for you to stay in contact with your friends and associates, to see their Status updates, and to directly message with them.
Media (Pro Members Only)
On the right side of the Profile Page is your Media area. Here you can upload music and audio files, upload photos, embed videos from YouTube, and upload files to share. Click on one of the four Media icons to start the process.
You can upload up to 20 megabytes of Media, so feel free to post your songs, images and files. Presently we support MP3 audio files, YouTube videos (these must be uploaded to YouTube first), JPEG images, PDF files and other documents for sharing. Please respect other people's copyrights when posting Media.
Music (Pro Members Only)
You can upload lots of music files and drag them into any order. The file at the top of your list will become your "Featured Track" and appear underneath your picture in different places on the Network. Make it one of your best songs. When you play music on the Network, a music player will appear at the bottom of your Browser window with the usual audio controls.
My Home
From the top navigation menu on any page of the site, click on the words "MY HOME" and you will be taken to your personal My Home page. The My Home page is your personal control panel for the Berklee Music Network and the online school. From here you can connect and communicate with other members, update your Status, and gain access to your online classes, your account, the help desk, career resources, and other products and services offered on the Network.
At the top of the page you will see if you have any new messages and can click the link to your INBOX. If you have any Contact Requests, click on the link to accept or reject new invitations. You control who you are connected with on the Network.
Just to the right of these two links is another area where you can update your Status, just like on your Profile page.
If you are just starting to use the Network, you will see a section called "Inside the Berklee Music Network" listed below your status area on your My Home page. This will give you an additional overview of the Network and its features. Click on the links to get started using the Network.
My Home Network Activity Board (Pro Members Only)
Your My Home Network Activity Board is where the status updates, music, video, photo, and other file postings from Pro Members will display in chronological order. Pro Members also have the ability to comment on other member's Network Activity Board postings. Start conversations, upload media, and check out the work of other Pro Members here.
Contacts (Pro Members Only)
You will see up to 20 contacts listed on your My Home page and you can easily access all of your contacts by clicking on the "All Contacts" button. Click on any Member's picture to be taken to their Profile where you can send them a message, send them a contact request and endorse them. In many areas of the site, if you place your mouse cursor over a picture, you will see that Member's latest Status update.
Contact Updates (Pro Members Only)
Below your list of 20 contacts are their status feeds and other activities listed chronologically. You can easily click through to their profiles by clicking on their picture or name or delete the activity from the list.
On the right side of your "My Home" page you will see a series of headers and links to various aspects of Berkleemusic and the Network. This is your personal control panel.
Search Members
At the top of the column, you can search for other Network Members by using the "Search Members" box.
My Courses (Pro Members Only)
If you are currently enrolled in online courses you will see them listed under "My Courses".
Archives (Pro Members Only)
If you were recently enrolled in online courses you will see them listed under "Archives".
My Account
Here is a series of links to help you manage your online account. You can change your password, edit your contact info, and edit your email preferences and shipping info. You can also see your order history, required course materials and other information.
Email Preferences
If you want to change your email notifications for the Berklee Music Network, click on "Edit Email Preferences" from the "My Account" area of "My Home." Click "Network Notifications - Edit email notifications for private messaging and contact requests" to set your preferences.
Help Desk
Here you can access and review your academic record, transcripts, school policies, the academic calendar, FAQs, tax info, and more. You can also get technical assistance and use the private student-only online forum.
Career Resources
Search jobs, manage job postings, utilize online library resources, and get access to special offers on the Student Benefits page.
